Leslie
Warren is currently the Interpreting Coordinator
at John Dempsey Hospital University of Connecticut Health
Center. She is the former Interpreter Coordinator for Family
Services Woodfield where her duties included supervision and
training of staff interpreters and employees of Connecticut
State Hospitals.
She was
a classroom teacher, Music, Movement, and Drama instructor
and former Sign Language Coordinator at the American School
for the Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut.
She is
employed as a Staff Interpreter at the Connecticut Commission
on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired; has worked as an Instructor
in ASL, Interpreting, and Artistic Sign Language at Northwestern
Connecticut Community Technical College; and has served as
a consultant to numerous Sign Language and Interpreter Training
Programs throughout Connecticut, the United States and Canada.

She
is currently a board member of The Connecticut Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf; a local test administrator for
the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Evaluation
Testing System; consultant for the Connecticut Mentorship
Program and a consultant for the Connecticut Hospital Associations.
Leslie
has received numerous awards for her work in theater arts
for deaf including The Kennedy Smith Award presented by Very
Special Arts, National, in Washington D.C. and CRID's "Interpreter
of the Year" award. Leslie was the recipient of RID's
Distinguished Service Award at the organization's national
conference held in Orlando, Florida during the summer of 2001.
Leslie
is also founder, director, writer, and choreographer for the
CRIDDERS (acronym, CRID-CT. Registry of Interpreters
for the Deaf) - a nationally recognized Sign Language Performing
Group that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for
organizations serving deaf citizens and other special needs
groups. The members of the CRIDDERS have now "volunteered"
their time and talents since 1978. |
